Prunella Barlow
Pru was born in Hampshire but spent her early years in the West Indies, returning to the UK when she was 10. Perhaps this is why she has always loved the excitement of travel – particularly to hot sunny places. Pru’s first trip to sea, when she was in her 20’s, was when she joined P & O as an assistant purser and set sail on the Arcadia for Australia, for what was called, in those far off days, a Line Voyage – rather than a cruise! But after 8 exiting years it was time to begin a completely different career, firstly as a teacher and then as an Education Officer. However, her yearning for travel to distant parts, preferably warm ones, was far from over, and in 2001 she decided to exchange the classroom for, once again, the excitement of travel. She has worked as Cruise Coordinator, Cruise Director and Tour Manager and counts herself lucky to have visited all the five Continents, many ports and World Heritage Sites along the way. Her favourite destinations include India, Egypt, and the Greek Islands. Her travel experience is extensive. She has worked on ocean ships, on river cruises and escorted overland tours all over the world.
